NSC Volunteer Policy and FAQ PDF Print E-mail
Monday, January 10 2011 19:15

This past fall season Norwin Soccer Club initiated a $35.00 Volunteer Fee.  The primary purpose of the Volunteer Fee is to encourage all members to volunteer in the operation of the club.  Norwin Soccer Club is a volunteer organization.  As volunteerism increases, so does the efficiency of the Club.

As with most new procedures, there were some problems.  The Board has evaluated the fall procedure and made changes in an effort to make the Volunteer Fee easier to administer and to make it as fair as possible for all members. The following addresses Frequently Asked Questions in regards to the Volunteer Fee:

How much is the Volunteer Fee?

  • $35.00/Family

Who Pays the Volunteer Fee?

  • Every family, including coaches and anyone that volunteers prior to registration.

How will the Volunteer Fee be Submitted?

  • A separate check will be written to NSC in the amount of $35. The check is to have the name of each child written in the memo portion of the check.
  • For those families that register in person, a separate check for the Volunteer Fee will be submitted.
  • For those families that register on-line, a check will be given to the coach prior to opening day. Players will not receive shirts until the Volunteer Fee has been paid.

Families with multiple children will submit a check to the coach of oldest child.

How do Members Earn their Volunteer Fee?

During the season, there are many opportunities for families to earn their volunteer fee.

·         Each family is required to volunteer two hours during the season. This includes but is not limited to:  coaching, assistant coaching (limit to two coaches/team assigned by the coordinator), concessions, and field preparation.

·         Team Parent will not be acceptable towards Volunteer Service.

·         Volunteer service must be verified by a coordinator or a board member.

·         Due to insurance policy, volunteer hours are to be completed by a member of the family 16 years or older.

When do Members Get Reimbursed?

  • Volunteer Checks can be picked up one week following completion of the volunteer service. In-house parents can pick up checks at the Nike Site Concession stand and travel parents can pick up their check on Sundays at the Turner Valley Concession stand.
  • Coaches will receive their volunteer check after they collect and turn in their team’s checks.
  • There will be NO reimbursements until opening day.
  • Any Volunteer Checks that are not picked up by tournament day will be destroyed.

NOTE:  If families know that they will not volunteer a minimum of two hours, then they can write “buy-out” above the address on

the check and the check will be deposited the first Monday of the season.

Thank you for you cooperation and support.

NSC is Proud to Announce a Strategic Partnership with Century United PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, June 03 2010 17:33

Today soccer in western Pennsylvania is offered in many forms. There are offerings at the recreational, developmental, competitive & special needs levels. The reason for such diversity is to target players seeking specific requirements, and allow them an opportunity to enjoy soccer at their respective form of choice.

Norwin Soccer Club has been looking at opportunities to provide for all forms of soccer to Norwin and surrounding communities. What we learned was that we have the advantage of facilities, a long history of commitment, and a strong body of patrons that make up NSC. We also learned that we were not positioned with the expertise or the resources to support advanced development and competition.

We are happy to announce that an 18 month search is over and that we have found a partner in Century United Soccer Club. They are a competitive organization with commitments to both PAWest & USClub soccer. What set Century apart from other candidates was:

  • Their reputation, commitment, and respect for developing coaches & players.
  • They recognize the importance of community soccer.
  • They are a stable well respected organization that is focused on investing resources to evolve and improve as a club.
  • We share a vision of how we see soccer 5 years from now and we understand the commitment necessary to get there.

At this time NSC & Century will continue to exist separately as members of PAWest; however, we will be working together, committed to improving the value of soccer in Western Pennsylvania.

Regards,

Sean Churchfield

NSC Club President
