Important Announcement From NSC PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, March 13 2013 16:43

Norwin Soccer and CONSOL Energy have been partners since 1982.  CONSOL owns the Turner Valley property and has been leasing the land to NSC, with an annual renewal, for more than 30 years.  In the past 12 months, NSC and CONSOL have been working to further develop our relationship.

We are excited to report to you that we have entered an agreement with CONSOL Energy to continue to lease Turner Valley for the next 20 years.  CONSOL has also agreed to assist us in our long term plan to develop the property.  NSC and CONSOL agree that in order to heighten awareness of our partnership, we would like to re-brand the complex to represent both partners involved.  On March 1, the Turner Valley Complex will be retitled as “CONSOL Energy Sports Complex at Turner Valley.  CONSOL is working with an architect and local contractors to have a new entrance sign built.  The project is expected to be complete by the start of the new soccer year in September 2013.

NSC will also be breaking ground in the near future for the new water, sewage lines and bathrooms.

As always, we will continue to update you on the latest news and excitement surrounding the changes happening at Turner Valley.

Strategic Parntership Announcement PDF Print E-mail
Saturday, December 01 2012 23:20
Century United is proud to announce a strategic partnership agreement with the Norwin Soccer Club (NSC) to provide enhancement to their youth soccer training program. As part of the relationship, Century United will provide NSC with ongoing player development support, including player academies, coach education workshops and team training. In addition, NSC will be the home venue for the Century United East Academy program, a supplementary training program open to competitive players ages 6-11.

The program provides the local soccer club with a unique opportunity to partner with the premier soccer club in Western Pennsylvania, and benefit from an extensive range of youth soccer expertise. Century United coaching staff will be on hand to work with players and implement an age-and-ability specific curriculum.

"We are looking forward to our partnership and the opportunity to develop players in the local community," Century United Director of Coaching Mike Blatz said. "As a leader in youth soccer in the area, it is important that we play an active role in the development of future soccer generations."

The partnership will also help expand offerings by the Norwin Soccer Club's Turner Valley Complex in North Huntingdon. "We are proud to partner with a club that has the same vision for youth soccer in our community," NSC President Bill Phillips commented. "Supporting local and regional tournaments as well as expanding outreach events such as our TOPS soccer program will be a major focus of the partnership."

NSC Volunteer Policy and FAQ PDF Print E-mail
Monday, January 10 2011 19:15

This past fall season Norwin Soccer Club initiated a $35.00 Volunteer Fee.  The primary purpose of the Volunteer Fee is to encourage all members to volunteer in the operation of the club.  Norwin Soccer Club is a volunteer organization.  As volunteerism increases, so does the efficiency of the Club.

As with most new procedures, there were some problems.  The Board has evaluated the fall procedure and made changes in an effort to make the Volunteer Fee easier to administer and to make it as fair as possible for all members. The following addresses Frequently Asked Questions in regards to the Volunteer Fee:

How much is the Volunteer Fee?

  • $35.00/Family

Who Pays the Volunteer Fee?

  • Every family, including coaches and anyone that volunteers prior to registration.

How will the Volunteer Fee be Submitted?

  • A separate check will be written to NSC in the amount of $35. The check is to have the name of each child written in the memo portion of the check.
  • For those families that register in person, a separate check for the Volunteer Fee will be submitted.
  • For those families that register on-line, a check will be given to the coach prior to opening day. Players will not receive shirts until the Volunteer Fee has been paid.

Families with multiple children will submit a check to the coach of oldest child.

How do Members Earn their Volunteer Fee?

During the season, there are many opportunities for families to earn their volunteer fee.

·         Each family is required to volunteer two hours during the season. This includes but is not limited to:  coaching, assistant coaching (limit to two coaches/team assigned by the coordinator), concessions, and field preparation.

·         Team Parent will not be acceptable towards Volunteer Service.

·         Volunteer service must be verified by a coordinator or a board member.

·         Due to insurance policy, volunteer hours are to be completed by a member of the family 16 years or older.

When do Members Get Reimbursed?

  • Volunteer Checks can be picked up one week following completion of the volunteer service. In-house parents can pick up checks at the Nike Site Concession stand and travel parents can pick up their check on Sundays at the Turner Valley Concession stand.
  • Coaches will receive their volunteer check after they collect and turn in their team’s checks.
  • There will be NO reimbursements until opening day.
  • Any Volunteer Checks that are not picked up by tournament day will be destroyed.

NOTE:  If families know that they will not volunteer a minimum of two hours, then they can write “buy-out” above the address on

the check and the check will be deposited the first Monday of the season.

Thank you for you cooperation and support.

Norwin Soccer Club Board
